Job Description
Service Care Finance are currently recruiting for a Services Accountant to join the Planning and Environmental directorate at a Local Authority in Surrey on a temporary basis.

The postholder will provide quality financial advice and information to Heads of Service and Budget Managers to support their decision making, financial planning, monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of the final accounts, including producing working papers and liaison with the Council's external auditors.


• Preparation of revenue estimates.


• Providing monthly revenue budget monitoring reports for budget managers.


• Supporting the development of the Medium Term Financial Strategy


• Providing financial advice, information and support to budget managers.


• Reconciliations of control accounts.


• Government returns and claims.

Candidate Criteria

• CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant


• Experience of working in a similar position in a Local Authority


• Experience of budget setting, monitoring and reporting


• Experience of contributing to the preparation of final accounts, including liaising with external auditors


• Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
