Main Purpose of the Job:
The Temporary Accommodation Operations Manager will oversee the allocation and tenancy management functions for households in temporary accommodation.

This role includes managing the allocation of accommodation, housing management, move-on, and resettlement functions on behalf of the Housing Needs Service.

The manager will serve as an ambassador for Council policies related to temporary accommodation allocation and tenancy management, providing expert advice to senior managers, Executive Directors, and members as needed.

Additionally, the role involves managing the resettlement function, maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, and utilizing community resources to support tenancy sustainment and reduce social isolation.
Temporary Accommodation Operations Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the performance of staff within the Accommodation Assessments and Lettings team, Temporary Accommodation team, and Tenancy Management and Resettlement team.

  • Achieve strong performance and continuous improvement in key areas including reducing the number of households in temporary accommodation and increasing referrals to private rented properties.

  • Ensure value for money on service agreements and contracts related to temporary accommodation.

  • Provide sustainment and resettlement support to maintain independent accommodation.

  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and quality of temporary accommodation stock.

  • Oversee services for homeless households managed by external providers, including hostels, PSL accommodation, and acquisitions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.

  • Valid driver's license, own vehicle, and business insurance.

  • Enhanced DBS certification for working with adults.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

The Package
This is a temporary, Temporary Accommodation Operations Manager role,40 hours per week for an initial 3 months, covering the recruitment process for a permanent team member, meaning the role could be extended, or become permanent.
