IPU Clinical Lead Nurse

A leading London charity for specialist palliative care and associated wellbeing support is now looking for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN Adult) to join their IPU as Clinical Lead Nurse.

The charity provides cohesive palliative and end-of-life services for adults with life-limiting conditions, both at their fully-“Good” rated inpatient unit and within patients’ own homes.

Patients experiencing complex physical and psychosocial needs can receive advanced pain and symptom support at the IPU before continuing to receive specialist care at their preferred place, allowing them to remain in familiar surroundings with a maximised quality of life.

Additionally, with specialist psychological, social and peer support services available through their wellbeing centre, the team can also offer patients, carers and loved ones comprehensive practical, emotional and bereavement support – making a real and lasting difference to many.

As Clinical Lead Nurse for the IPU, you will lead a highly skilled, close-knit team in providing exceptional palliative and EOL care to people with conditions such as organ failure, late-stage cancers, and degenerative conditions.

You will ensure that each patient receives the individualised care they need to effectively manage their symptoms and that supports their wellbeing in all aspects, as well as contribute to ongoing service development initiatives that ensure care within the IPU remains as safe, responsive and person-centred as possible.

This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5h) for a Clinical Lead Nurse (RN Adult) with a Mon-Fri working pattern.

 

Person specification:


  • (Essential) NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • (Essential) Notable professional experience delivering specialist palliative care / end-of-life care such as within a hospice, oncology/acute unit or in the community (not including  elderly care environments)
  • (Essential) Professional history of clinical leadership / management and service development at a level equivalent to NHS AfC Band 7 or higher
  • (Desirable) Non-medical prescriber qualification
