Job Description
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in London for a Finance Manager (Capital/Commercial) to join the team on a permanent basis.

The postholder will take an active role managing the finances of the General Fund capital programme.

This involves working closely with senior management and project managers, advising on strategic capital projects, and managing a team of accountants.

The postholder will lead on the monitoring of these multi-million pound schemes, working closely with other specialists to safeguard the council's assets and finances.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute towards the development and implementation of the financial strategy, fundamentally ensuring sustainability over the medium term.


• Managing the finances of the General Fund Capital Programme, including advising on strategic capital projects.


• Prepare and present complex and diverse informative, high quality reports to members and other senior stakeholders that inform service and corporate consequence action decision making.


• Support the longer-term council-wide financial position and develop financial strategies with stakeholders.


• Lead and effectively motivate staff by providing coaching, mentoring, training, professional development opportunities, and appropriate performance management.


• Advise Head of Finance and Senior Finance Managers on funding, financial management and accounting requirements.

Candidate Criteria

• CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant with extensive PQE


• Experienced with high-level business partnering in a Local Authority, contributing to an effective service.


• Experience of managing a finance team within a Local Authority


• Excellent financial advisory and financial reporting skills


• Capital experience is desirable but those that meet the other criteria with a motivation to learn the capital aspect will be considered.


• Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
