Working Conditions

  • Full-time, Initially for 3 months

  • Rate of pay: £400ltd per day

  • Location: Slough Borough Council

  • Working arrangements - Hybrid working at least 2 days per week in the office

Job Description

Slough Borough Council are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Category Manager to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing procurement guidance and support across Council departments, reviewing procurement business cases, and developing annual procurement plans across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on embedding social value across the Council

  • Conduct gap analysis in relation to the new Procurement Act

  • Agree in terms of Council policy a minimum of 2 days in the office

  • Provide guidance and support to Council departments on procurement matters

  • Review procurement business cases to ensure they meet Council requirements

  • Develop annual procurement plans across all departments


  • Proven experience as a Procurement Category Manager

  • Excellent knowledge of procurement regulations and legislation

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong negotiation skills


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

  • CIPS certification is preferred
