Community Nurse

A leading Berkshire charity is now looking for a Registered Nurse (RN Adult) to join the team in delivering kind, holistic care to local people experiencing life-limiting illness as a Community Nurse (Homecare Nurse).

By offering comprehensive palliative and end-of-life care within patients’ own homes, the charity helps more people to receive the flexible care they need, in the place where they are most comfortable, for longer (with the choice to be admitted to an “Outstanding”-rated hospice if more intensive care is needed).

As a Community Nurse, you will join the MDT in providing round-the-clock hospice-at-home / Virtual Ward wraparound services: helping life-limited adults from the age of 16 to manage their evolving symptoms with a high quality of life, and supporting carers and loved ones with their practical and wellbeing concerns.

You will be mostly autonomous in your day-to-day, caring for patients directly with the chance to make a real and lasting impact for affected families.

Benefitting from an excellent induction and training programme, you’ll hone your clinical skills through nursing for late-stage cancers, organ failure, degenerative diseases, and other complex conditions.

While a naturally scary time, the part you’ll play in reducing pain and easing worries will make your role a positive and truly fulfilling experience.

This is a permanent position for a Registered Nurse (RN Adult); full-time and part-time hours up to 37.5h can be considered, following a mixed shift pattern.

This service operates 24/7; this means your rota will include both day shifts and night shifts to meet service needs.

You will need a driving licence and a car to meet the travel requirements of this role.

Person specification:

  • (Essential) Registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse (RN Adult)
  • (Essential) Clean UK driving licence and access to personal vehicle
  • (Essential) Some previous experience with palliative care nursing, either in a clinical or community setting
  • (Essential) Comfortable lone-working with remote clinical support
  • (Essential) Ability to undertake both day shifts and night shifts

Benefits and enhancements include:

  • High autonomy alongside dedicated clinical support network
  • Mileage allowance (45p per mile)
  • Pay enhancements for Saturdays (x1.33) and Sundays/Bank Holidays (x1.66)
  • 27 days’ annual leave + bank holidays
  • Contributory pension scheme or continuation of NHS pension (subject to eligibility)
  • Excellent learning and development programme
  • Occupational sick pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Blue Light Card employee discount scheme
  • Enhanced and shared parental pay policies
  • And more
