Role Overview
Opportunity for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join a forward-thinking team developing cutting-edge lighting control systemsFocus on PCB design, schematic development, and long-term testing for integration into smart control modules, PoE switches, DALI drivers, Bluetooth devices, and sensorsRole involves full lifecycle product development: from concept and prototyping through to compliance testing and production supportIdeal for engineers with a passion for circuit design, fault finding, EMC/LVD compliance, and new product development (NPD)
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and test electronic circuits and PCBs for lighting control productsCreate schematics and layouts using professional electronic design toolsSelect suitable components for high-performance circuit designsConduct long-term testing, fault finding and compliance testing (EMC, LVD, etc.)Support setup and evaluation of BLE devices, app integration and firmware testingProvide technical support to commissioning and project engineersBuild full PCB BOMs and generate accurate production documentationWrite test specifications, wiring diagrams, and create fault-finding guidesLead the organisation of the R&D lab and oversee new product sample managementTrain engineers and assist in setting up demonstration kitsMaintain detailed documentation of all design files and test reportsReview and improve existing designs through value engineeringLiaise with suppliers, manufacturers and external consultants to ensure quality and specification adherenceCollaborate closely with project managers, software developers and end usersRegularly update stakeholders on project progress and design changes
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong experience in PCB design, schematic development, and component selectionProven track record in electronic product testing, debugging and fault diagnosisFamiliarity with lighting control systems, PoE, DALI, LCMs, and sensor integration preferredPractical knowledge of compliance testing, particularly EMC and LVD standardsProficiency with BLE functionality testing, firmware updates and app integrationSkilled in producing production-ready documents: BOMs, wiring diagrams, test specsExperienced in product development workflows from concept to manufactureComfortable working in a structured, regulated environmentPrevious involvement with OEM clients, suppliers and in-house product teamsRelevant qualification in Electronic Engineering (degree, HND, BTEC or apprenticeship)
