The Vehicle Recovery Examination Services (VRES) tackles vehicle crime in London, working with various agencies to manage vehicles involved in collisions, serious crimes, or those seized for no insurance or unlicensed use.
We support frontline policing 24/7/365, processing around 40,000 vehicles annually at our Perivale and Charlton compounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision: Oversee the loading and unloading of vehicles according to statutory regulations including Health and Safety at Work Act, Institute of Vehicle Recovery standards (IVR), Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).
Processing Vehicles: Confirm vehicle identity upon arrival, accurately complete vehicle removal forms, and move vehicles into designated storage areas, ensuring evidential continuity.
Specialist Equipment: Use specialist vehicle movement equipment following Health and Safety protocols, and report any faults to the pound manager.
Inspections: Inspect vehicles post-forensic examination, restoration, or pre-disposal.
Record property, including cash, drugs, weapons, and valuables, following VRES SOPs.
Hazard Management: Deal with oil and fuel spills from accident-damaged vehicles in accordance with Health and Safety risk assessments and environmental legislation.
Maintenance: Perform cleaning duties including gritting the pound, cleaning equipment, and clearing rubbish around the site and within office areas.
Other Duties: Carry out any additional tasks as designated by the Pound Manager.
Essential Criteria:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
Desirable Criteria:
HR experience and understanding of HR functions.
Valid UK Driving Licence.
ELS and OST training (training will be provided if not already trained).

Working hours: 4 days on, 4 days off.
