Are you passionate about empowering young people and supporting them as they transition into adulthood? Do you have experience working with vulnerable children and young people in care? If so, we want you to join our team as a Leaving Care Specialist / Personal Advisor.

As part of our Care Leavers Service, you will play a vital role in helping young people who are "Looked After" or who have recently left care to realise their potential and navigate the challenges of transitioning into independent living.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people at a critical point in their journey.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Empowering Young People: You'll provide practical, emotional, and personal support to help young people meet their individual needs and build a bright future.

  • Supporting Development: Guide young people through the complexities of health, benefits, housing, education, training, and employment.

  • Collaboration and Advocacy: Work closely with other professionals, families, and community members to ensure the young person's needs are met.

Advocate for young people, empowering them to make their own decisions and self-advocate when needed.

  • Creating Pathways for Success: Help young people create personalised action plans and a pathway for independence, while ensuring the progress of their development through assessments and regular reviews.

  • Building Relationships: Establish a trusting relationship with young people to help them navigate transitions and overcome barriers to learning and personal growth.

  • Contributing to Service Development: Actively engage in the development of the service, promoting the voice and participation of young people in shaping their support and the service they receive.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: You'll need experience working with young people, ideally in a supportive or advisory role.

Experience working with young parents or vulnerable groups is an asset.

  • Skills & Knowledge: A solid understanding of adolescent issues, housing, employment, and training challenges.

You'll be comfortable liaising with external agencies to build a support network for the young people in your care.

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and a commitment to your own professional development.

  • Flexibility: The role requires a flexible approach, with some evening and weekend work.

A full driving license and access to a car for work purposes are essential.

Why Join Us?

  • Make an Impact: This is your opportunity to truly change the lives of young people by helping them secure a successful future.

  • Professional Development: You'll have access to ongoing training and the chance to develop in your career.

  • Supportive Environment: We pride ourselves on offering a positive, team-oriented culture where your contributions are valued.
