Job Title: Early Help Practitioner - Youth Offending Team (YOT)

About the Role:
Join our dedicated Youth Justice Service team as an Early Help Practitioner on the Turnaround Programme! This role is a unique opportunity to make a real difference by preventing young people from entering the youth justice system.

Through early intervention and proactive support, you will play a key role in addressing the underlying issues that lead to potential criminal behaviour and promote positive outcomes for at-risk youth.


Key Responsibilities:




  • Assessment and Identification: Conduct assessments to identify young people at risk of offending.

    Utilise screening tools and collaborate with schools, social services, and community organisations to recognise early signs of potential criminal behaviour.


  • Developing Intervention Plans: Create tailored intervention plans to address specific needs such as family issues, educational challenges, mental health concerns, or substance abuse.


  • Providing Support and Guidance: Lead one-on-one and group sessions to offer guidance on conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and decision-making.

    Engage families and caregivers to foster a supportive environment at home.


  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with agencies like schools, health services, social services, and law enforcement to ensure a comprehensive approach to prevention and intervention.


  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track progress of youth in the programme, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and make adjustments as needed.

    Keep detailed records to document outcomes and improvements.


  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community organisations to provide youth with support, opportunities, and positive activities to reduce offending risk.


  • Education and Awareness: Educate youth on the consequences of criminal behaviour and the benefits of a positive path.

    Raise awareness within the community about early intervention's impact.

  • Organisational Skills: Skilled in managing caseloads, documentation, and coordination with multiple agencies.

Requirements:



  • Prior experience working within a YOT/Youth Justice Service.

  • Strong understanding of risk factors and intervention strategies for at-risk youth.
