Lived Experience Facilitator - Gambling Support

The Role -


As a key member of the Gambling Service team, the Lived Experience facilitator will play an instrumental role in promoting understanding, reducing stigma, and fostering a sense of empowerment for those affected by gambling harms either as a gambler or as an affected other.



Main responsibilities / duties -



  • Engage with individuals accessing gambling support, providing empathy and understanding based on your own lived experiences and mentoring those seeking guidance and inspiration in their own recovery journey.

  • Facilitate recovery groups, workshops, and educational sessions to share knowledge and strategies for making and maintaining positive changes.

  • Collaborate with staff within the Gambling service to enhance understanding of the lived experience perspective and contribute to service development plans and strategies.

  • Take the lead in the development and delivery of a gambling harms peer support programme.

  • Facilitate opportunities to gather service user feedback to evaluate the quality of the service.



The Perfect Candidate -



  • Experienced harm from gambling either directly as a gambler or indirectly as an affected other (Have been in stable recovery for at least 12 months).



  • Good knowledge and understanding of gambling harms and available support services / resources.



Essential Criteria -



  • Good basic standard of education e.g.

    4-5 GCSE's or Level 2 NVQ.

    Commitment to work towards a level 3/4 qualification.
