Job Description
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Berkshire for an Education Finance Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis.

This position will be responsible for overseeing payments to schools, supported by a team of experienced officers, focusing on schools block payments and working with other colleagues who are responsible for early years and high needs block payment.


Key Responsibilities



  • Effectively manage resources within the team in order to contribute to the overall financial strategy of the Local Authority.

  • Anticipate and identify key financial issues and risks affecting the business which require attention, resolve issues with Senior Managers and identify mitigating actions.

  • Responsibility for overseeing payments to schools, focusing on schools block payments as well as early years and high needs block payment.

  • Provide support to Budget Managers during budget preparation, monthly monitoring, year-end and closure of accounts


Candidate Criteria



  • CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant with extensive PQE

  • Experience of Education/DSG Finance within Local Authority

  • Experience of effectively managing resources and overseeing payments to schools

  • Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
