Housing Support Worker
Derby
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (with occasional weekend working)
Temporary contract

Role Description:



  • Working in a 6-bed supported housing scheme in Derby.

  • Providing support to vulnerable females with complex needs, including substance misuse, mental health issues, history of domestic violence (DV), or experiencing DV/coercive behaviour.

  • Some minimal work in the community supporting females moved on from the scheme.

  • Working with 6 females to encourage active involvement in move-on accommodation, community activities, and benefits.

  • Multi-agency working to ensure comprehensive support.


Strategy and Service Development:



  • Provide individual personalized support packages reflective of different client needs, including culture and diversity issues.

  • Assist clients with day-to-day tenancy issues, payment of rent, claiming benefits, and preparing units to let.

  • Undertake referrals and assessments of potential clients, working with them to identify the most appropriate housing solution for their needs.

  • Ensure clients have access to relevant external support services.

  • Provide practical support and information to clients throughout their involvement with the service.

  • Report repairs and maintenance needs on behalf of the client following agreed procedures.


Service Delivery:



  • Understand your role in the organization and be accountable for your contribution.

  • Ensure your efforts are client-led and accountable for positive outcomes.

  • Adhere to corporate policies and procedures.

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary staff team, ensuring support is available across all schemes in the cluster.

  • Actively participate in team meetings and attend regular supervisions.


Qualifications and Experience:



  • Previous experience in a housing support role.

  • Enhanced DBS certification for working with adults and children.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and engage in lone working situations.

  • Experience of working with vulnerable client groups.

  • Experience of delivering structured support in either housing or social care.


The Package
This is a temporary, Housing Support worker role,37.5 hours per week for an initial 3 months, covering the recruitment process for a permanent team member, meaning the role could be extended, or become permanent.
