Finance Assistant - Income
Sevenoaks, West Kent
Full Time - Hybrid
Temp - 6 Months

We are seeking a professional and knowledgeable Finance Assistant to join a team based in Sevenoaks on a full time temporary basis for a contract of 3-6 months.

This role offers Hybrid working with 2 days a week based in office and 3 days working from home.

The Finance Assistant will process income transactions correctly and within agreed timescales and deadlines, as well as assistant the Finance Officer in their post.



Requirements



  • Previous experience within a similar role, 6 month minimum

  • Highly numerate, literate and an excellent communicator

  • Ability to assimilate, analyse and interpret complex information

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both face to face and over the telephone

  • Knowledge of Value added tax regulations

  • Demonstrable experience of identifying potential problems and taking appropriate action

  • Good welfare benefits knowledge

  • Professional qualification in income collection or debt collection (desirable)



  • Knowledge of IT processes, including Word and Excel

  • Good communication and negotiation skills


Role Expectations



  • Ensure accurate processing of all rent transactions and charges, including the secure deposit of payments into the bank

  • Support the Finance Officer - Income in managing sales ledger tasks promptly and accurately, including VAT calculations for HMRC submissions

  • Aid the Finance Officer - Income in maintaining payment systems and communicating with residents and staff about collections

  • Generate precise reports to assess arrears performance and share them with relevant teams.

  • Offer assistance with Direct Debits to internal stakeholders

  • Participate in the review, implementation, and upkeep of an extensive electronic document system

  • Undertake various tasks to meet demands and deliver exceptional customer service through proactive initiatives

  • Process rent transactions and generate pre-debit reports

  • Adjust rent account transactions accurately to provide relevant staff and residents with precise data

  • Maintain and review a suspense account for pending income
