People Operations Manager

Job Title: People Operations Manager
Location: Central Birmingham (at least 2 days/week, days to be confirmed)
Contract Type: Temporary - 6 months

This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on driving positive improvement in work practices, systems, and team dynamics.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in incrementally improving service levels, fostering teamwork, and enhancing overall performance within the team.

Key Priorities:



  • Incrementally improve service levels (response times, accuracy, efficiency, ease of contact) and foster a sense of achievement and teamwork within the team.

  • Explore a more structured, continuous-improvement focused approach, adopting a 'service desk' mindset and/or tools.

  • Establish sustainable routines for daily/weekly/monthly administrative tasks, supported by clear documentation and tracking/monitoring tools.

  • Ensure all team members are trained and proficient in supporting routine tasks, service fulfilment requirements, and overall task performance.

  • Document all external supplier relationships and implement a process for monitoring service performance, contract renewals, budgeting, and invoicing.

  • Develop a roadmap for improving and updating all Policies and Procedures, aligning with legal requirements and values.

  • Work closely with SLT and Corporate Services partners to develop a plan for incremental improvement of the existing HRIS and review the need for re-tendering in the future.


Candidate Profile:



  • Experienced HR/People Admin/Services/Ops Manager.

  • Exceptional personal organisational skills.

  • Capacity to drive positive improvement and change.

  • Proven ability to plan and manage high-volume activities.

  • Motivated to make a quick impact and leave a sustainable team in place.
