Job Title: Youth Offending Service Worker

Pay Rate: £26.45 per hour

Job Type: Temporary (Maternity Cover) - Inside IR35

Location: The Woolwich Centre, Royal Borough of Greenwich

Hours: 35 hours per week

Start Date: 26/11/2023 | End Date: 23/05/2024 | Start Time: 09:00 | End Time: 17:00

About the Role: As a Youth Offending Service Worker, you will play a crucial role in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, addressing the complex needs and behaviors of children and young people in the community and custody.

Working under the guidance of the Team Leader, you will be responsible for a caseload subject to pre-Court disposals, statutory Court orders, and bail support packages.

Main Duties:

• Conduct holistic assessments of children, young people, and their families to identify risk and protective factors, adapting approaches based on their views.


• Develop and deliver creative interventions focusing on criminogenic needs and strengthening factors for desistance through one-to-one or group work.


• Engage and motivate children and young people in accordance with national standards, fostering professional relationships and promoting compliance with orders.


• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team and establish effective partnerships with relevant agencies to ensure positive outcomes.


• Attend police stations, secure estates, and court proceedings, providing support and advice as the Youth Offending Service representative.


• Prepare reports for Referral Order Panels, Pre Sentence Reports, and undertake pre and post-court work.

Requirements:

• Qualified in Social Care


• Proven experience in youth offending services


• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends


• Strong knowledge of legislation, policy, and practice applicable to the role
