Cyber Security Analyst

Position Overview:


Post Title: Cyber Security Analyst
Pay: Upto £400 per day Umbrella



Key Responsibilities:



  • Investigate security incidents, assess their impact, and apply appropriate responses.

  • Performance manage security controls on the digital estate, identifying deficiencies, and taking necessary actions.

  • Manage vulnerability scans on the digital estate per compliance regulations and business needs.

  • Review Cyber Security implications of technical designs and implementations.

  • Support and develop the team's Cyber Security engineers.

  • Advise IDS team members on best practices in Cyber Security, ISO27001, and NCSC guidance.

  • Stay informed about emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Research, review, and investigate new technologies to enhance the technical security of the Council's network.

  • Use analytic tools to determine emerging threat patterns and vulnerabilities.

  • Update policies, procedures, and processes supporting the cyber security framework.

  • Utilize the Microsoft suite of technologies to protect Council data (Defender, Sentinel, Azure).

    Essential Criteria:


    Qualifications:



  • Educated to degree level with a related security or technology qualification (CISM, CISSP, etc.) or equivalent knowledge and skills with extensive experience in security analysis within a public sector organisation.



  • Experience: 2.

    Knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIST and their application within an organisation.



  • Good knowledge of legislative and regulatory compliances an organisation must meet such as PSN, PCI-DSS, GDPR, DPA 2018, etc.


  • Ability to coordinate and manage major cyber security events to proactively manage risks.


  • Experience in maintaining a Cyber Security risk register, producing reports, and presenting in meetings.


  • Experience in completing submissions for Cyber Security compliances such as PSN, PCI, or Cyber Essentials.


  • Experience in sourcing and working with third-party suppliers, including SOC providers.


  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud Security, Sentinel, Defender product suite, and related technologies.


  • Knowledgeable in the management and monitoring of risks presented by cloud-based digital services.


  • Strong experience in Web Application Firewalls, DMZ, Application Management Gateways, Micro-segmentation, etc.



  • Special Requirements: 16.

    This role requires obtaining an Enhanced satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
