
Investigative Coach
Job Title: Trainee PIP2 Detective Coach
Location: A BCU of your choice in London
Pay Rate: £289 per day
Number of Coaches needed : 20
About the Role:
As a Trainee Detective Coach (TDC), you will guide, advise, and nurture Trainee Detectives hailing from diverse policing backgrounds.
You'll be an integral member of our Learning and Development team, mentoring each officer as they progress through the PIP 2 DC Programme.
Your guidance will draw from your extensive experience as a Detective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and induct new officers onto the programme.
- Conduct monthly development meetings and establish clear agreements.
- Maintain a live coaching document to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Focus on enhancing officer performance through critical thinking.
- Collaborate with line managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of development needs.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Recent, detailed experience conducting Police investigations and interviews as a Detective Constable or Detective Sergeant in a PIP2 role.
- Proficiency in criminal law and the criminal justice system.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A methodical approach to work, with the ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
- Awareness of equality and diversity issues in the workplace.
- A solid working knowledge of the CRIS system.
Desirable Qualifications: While not mandatory, the following qualifications and skills are desirable:
- Awareness and understanding of the PC to DC career pathway.
- Recent experience in investigation within the Frontline Policing environment.
- Presentation skills.
- Proficiency with EWMS, Merlin, COPA, and CRIMINT systems.
- Understanding of data protection issues in criminal investigations.
- A flexible problem-solving approach.
- The ability to facilitate the development of others.
- Knowledge of various coaching and assessing techniques.
- A coaching certificate.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
