Energy Manager

Service Care Solutions are looking for an Energy Manager to work within the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue on a 6-month contract.

Location: Oxford Road, Manchester

Job role/responsibilities:
This role aims to provide proactive project management, integral to GMCA's transformation into a 21st Century model estate.

It focuses on making GMCA a net-zero estate, identifying funding opportunities, reducing carbon emissions, and aligning plans with sustainability objectives through close collaboration with colleagues.



  • Coordinate GM Land and Property programs on behalf of the Director and GM Land and Property Board, engaging with GM stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with public sector Estates officers in GM to coordinate property programs and project delivery aligned with Land and Property business plan goals.

  • Project manage and oversee funding to ensure efficient resource use, supporting partners in securing additional funding.

  • Support partner ambitions aligning with GM's key objectives and priorities, working with Estates lead officers.

  • Assist in delivering the Public Sector Decarbonisation Program and reducing carbon emissions in the public sector estate.

  • Assess organisational needs, develop associated work programs based on risk assessments.

  • Incorporate stakeholder input into the work.

  • Contribute to GMCA's strategic asset management activities.

  • Collaborate within a broader delivery team to implement GMCA plans and activities.

  • Plan, lead, and manage complex programs and projects within established frameworks.

  • Ensure successful project delivery on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards, using GMCA's project management methodology when applicable.

  • Develop and facilitate effective forums and networks involving stakeholders.

  • Maintain program control, adapt to changing circumstances, and manage change effectively.

  • Manage and implement agreed projects using strong project management practices.


Knowledge/Experience required:



  • Graduate level qualification in a relevant field / or equivalent substantial experience.

  • Project Management qualification, such as APMG, PRINCE 2 Practitioner, or equivalent.

  • Understanding of business analysis, process change, and alternative service delivery models.

  • Proven experience of successfully managing and delivering a wide range of complex transformation programmes / projects.

  • Knowledge and experience of successfully applying programme and project management principles, processes, and procedures.

  • Experience of managing successful programme / project teams and working with senior leaders and managers.

  • Experience in building effective strategic relationships across a range of stakeholders to persuade, negotiate and influence at all levels.

  • Experience of compiling clear and concise technical and non-technical reports and communication materials for a range of political, professional, and lay-person audiences.

  • Experience in using a range of project management styles.

  • Experience of managing teams and motivating staff and working across organisations to deliver quality outcomes.

  • Experience of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and funding strands.

  • Experience of production of high-quality reports.

  • Experience of managing budgets and financial reporting.
