
Commercial Contracts Manager
Title: Commercial Lead (Contracts)

Role Description
The Commercial Lead (Contracts) role is integral to Commercial Services.
In 2020, the MPS Commercial Function revamped its operating model, establishing six Pillars with overall accountability for the commercial life cycle and relevant Business Partnering responsibilities across the organization.
In this role, you will lead Contract Management for one or more of MPS's high-profile, complex, and strategic contracts, including the MPS-SSCL contract, which provides essential shared services functions for the organization.
Your contribution will be instrumental in achieving Commercial Excellence for the Met by providing customer-focused service, understanding business needs and stakeholder drivers, and becoming a trusted commercial advisor.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues within the commercial function, contributing to and influencing category strategies impacted by the contract.
Your role extends to offering insights and best practices across the broader team.
You will operate autonomously, ensuring effective stakeholder management while adhering to the commercial and MPS governance framework processes and procedures.
Your responsibilities include performance management, risk management, issue resolution, financial management, change control, contract compliance, and continuous improvement (service and value).
Key Responsibilities
Your daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring effective Commercial Contract and Supplier Management within the category:
- Managing day-to-day contract delivery against objectives.
- Handling contract variations, offering practical advice and strategic direction.
- Evaluating contract ROI in light of value for money considerations.
- Overseeing the realization of benefits resulting from performance management or change control and addressing non-delivery of benefits when necessary.
- Strategic delivery and management within a category:
- Contributing to the wider Category Strategy by providing insights gained from contract management.
- Understanding relevant sourcing options and analysis and delivering positive outcomes through the procurement process.
- Leading planning and strategy for contract re-procurement and conducting soft market testing.
- Performing some sourcing activities related to contracts or stakeholders

Essential Criteria
Candidates must submit a curriculum vitae and a statement of suitability, both demonstrating how they meet the following essential criteria:
- Experience in developing, delivering, and implementing contract management plans in complex, high-value environments at a senior level.
- Understanding of Public Contract Regulations, standard sourcing methodologies, and a comprehensive grasp of contract management processes.
- Evidence of developing effective supplier relationships and the ability to resolve performance issues or supply variations without resorting to legal or contractual measures, emphasizing continuous improvement and innovation for all parties, including complex performance management and incentivization mechanisms.
Desirable Criteria:
- Working knowledge of purchasing processes and systems (Purchase-to-Pay).
- CIPS qualification / IACCM certification or progress toward certification.
