Senior Commercial Manager

Our Housing Client based in Central London are currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager to join their team.


This is an ongoing, temporary contract with the ideal candidate coming from a housing background with extensive experience as a commercial manager.


The purpose of the role is to lead on providing support and guidance to the department on commercial matters, such as procurement, contract structure and cost control.


You will work closely with the other teams in the Development & Sales directorate to ensure that individual projects and the overall programme are successfully delivered under the appropriate procurement routes, mitigating risks through the preparation of robust contract documentation, and ensuring costs are controlled.


Responsibilities:



  • Managing, developing and training junior members of the Commercial team.

  • Providing construction procurement and framework advice that will influence the delivery of projects and the overall programme.

  • Leading on the negotiation of constructions contracts and development agreements.

  • Critiquing cost advice provided by consultants.

  • Ensure that risk registers are developed and maintained, as appropriate.

  • Reviewing and negotiating cost sum analyses, for inclusion in build contracts.

  • Support and advise on the appropriateness of proposed development and contracting partners, advising on contractual safeguards such as bonds, PCGs and building warranties.

  • Providing cost and contractual advice and support to the Construction team during the delivery phase.


Requirements:



  • A track record of operating at a high level within a large and complex organisation with demonstrable success in delivering on significant financial analysis and modelling expertise to aid the evaluation of major capital projects.

  • Considerable experience in negotiating and managing build contracts and cost sum analyses.

  • Strong commercial awareness preferably with some exposure to joint venture businesses.

  • Sound knowledge of investment considerations and financial appraisal within the development sector

  • Relevant professional qualification (RICS/MCIOB qualified to chartered level, or in the process of becoming qualified)

  • Management qualification.

  • Evidence of continued professional development


The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £500 - £580 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
