We have the fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join our team based in Redbridge, London, as an Interim Head of Housing Needs.

This is a full time temporary position, with a 12 month contract length.

This role offers a Hybrid working approach.

The Head of Housing Needs will lead on all operational aspects of role, as well as implement new ways of working, and work on facilitating change within the wider team.


  • Significant experience of managing performance and delivering housing needs services in an authority with high demand

  • Experience managing a team and ability to ensure staff are effectively supervised an supported

  • Ensure roles and objectives are clearly communicated to staff, and ensure services are delivered to the required standard

  • Experience of managing the implementation of new ways of working, including supporting culture change, and compliance to new systems and processes

  • Experience of working with external suppliers and contractors to maximise the benefits of contractual relationships

  • Understanding and knowledge of statutory, legal and contractual framework around tenancy, homeowners and shared owners' management

  • Ability to deal with complex queries and challenging individuals in a constructive and effective way

  • Excellent knowledge of Housing and Homelessness legislation

  • Be IT literate with excellent knowledge of Word and Excel

Role Expectations

  • Lead a dedicated team of professionals, providing guidance and support

  • Liaise with key internal and external partners including housing authorities, community partners, and stakeholders to address housing needs effectively

  • Utilize data-driven insights to assess housing needs, measure program effectiveness, and make informed decisions

  • Manage budgets, grants, and resources to ensure the efficient operation of housing programs

  • Implement new ways to work, support culture change and ensure all compliance is set up for new systems

  • Prepare regular reports and updates where needed
