One of the largest Housing Associations in the UK is recruiting for an Care Worker for one of their services in Ventnor, Isle of Wight on a 12 week temp to perm basis.
The Service
This Care Worker post is based within a 33-flat extra care service in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight for service users over the age of 55.
The Role
The focus of this Care Worker role is to promote residents independence, safety, health and wellbeing demonstrating the core values of the organisation
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide care to residents as identified in their person-centred care plan.
This may include helping residents to wash, dress, helping someone to eat, manual handling, using a hoist, supporting with administration of medication and “end of life” care - Deliver care in a way which promotes independence, rights, choices and inclusion in the residents' home and wider community
- Follow the requirements and regulations outlined by the Care Quality Commission, ensuring residents' have an up-to-date care plan which reflects the needs and wishes of each person
- Undertake key-working (one-to-one) duties, as required
- Maintain and develop professional relationships
- Provide assistance with the security of the resident's home, and provide support with maintaining a safe and comfortable environment
- Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including food hygiene, manual handling, infection control and safe administration of medication
- Summon professional assistance in the case of an emergency
- Maintain confidentiality and work within Code of Conduct
The Candidate
No experience is required for this Care Worker role as all training will be provided.
However, you will need the below characteristics to excel in the role:
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience
- Be able to adapt to working environments
- You will have a keenness to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of life for people with care needs
- Have the ability to act calmly in emergencies and respond in a professional manner to stressful and challenging behaviour
- Be well motivated self-starter, with a flexible approach to work
- Be able to work as part of a team
- You will need good literacy and numeracy skills
Due to the nature of clients you will be supporting in this role, you will require an enhanced DBS.
The Package
This is a temp-to-perm Care Worker role, on an initial 3-month contract.
25 and 35 hour per week options are available.
The purpose of the vacancy is to cover the recruitment process for a permanent staff member, but if you are successful in the role there is a strong chance the contract will become permanent beyond 12 weeks.
Pay will be pro rata, in line with the permanent salary of £22,750.
