We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Welfare Advice and Triage Officer to join our team in West Kent on a full-time temporary ongoing basis.
The postholder will provide first line support, information and advice to individual residents to enable them to maximise their incomes, manage debts, budget, access on-line services and help sustain tenancies.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a similar role
- Knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures surrounding welfare benefits, debt and financial exclusion
- Experience of providing advice & support to individuals over the phone, by email, letter
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines
- Experience providing an effective service to members of the public, communicating well with tenants and residents or similar customer
- Commitment to providing tailored support to vulnerable residents
Role Expectations
- Provide support, information and advice to individual residents to enable them to maximise their incomes, manage debts, budget, access on-line services and help sustain tenancies
- Manage a caseload of clients referred for welfare benefits advice and support
- Support and promote ways for residents to independently access welfare support
- Administer, assess and triage referrals to the resident hardship fund, making awards where appropriate and tracking the progress of those awards
- Coordinate the access and distribution of food, energy or fuel vouchers efficiently and quickly ensuring all record keeping and administration if maintained
- Provide regular reports and case studies
- Liaise with key internal and external partners
- Work in partnership with the Council Tax Billing, Recovery, and Fraud sections and maintain effective communication
- Maintain Records: Accurately record all interactions, assessments, and decisions in line with relevant policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data protection guidelines are strictly followed
