Project Manager - Women in National Security Programme

Location: London, United Kingdom


Salary: £400-£600 per day (dependent on experience)


Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Project Manager for the Women in National Security (WiNS) programme.

This is a unique six-month attachment opportunity, offering a lateral change or career development prospect within a fast-paced and ground-breaking pilot initiative.


About the WiNS Programme:


The Women in National Security (WiNS) programme aims to promote the recruitment and retention of women working in Counter Terrorism Policing.

WiNS focuses on establishing career-enhancing pathways, fostering initiatives, and providing professional development opportunities.

The programme includes exchanges, short-term attachments, coaching, mentoring, networking, and training across domestic and international systems.

Additionally, WiNS organizes events where influential and high-profile women in the field share their experiences.

A pilot exchange programme between Australia and the UK will be conducted, with plans to extend the model to other Five Eyes (FVEYs) countries.


Role and Responsibilities:


As the Project Manager, you will work within Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) and report to the Director Strategy, CTP and WiNS Governance Board.

Your primary responsibility will be to apply structure, rigour, and project disciplines to the WiNS pilot programme.

Key responsibilities include:



  • Establishing a project structure in collaboration with exchange candidates, wider applicant candidates, UK/Australian stakeholders, and WiNS support/working groups.

  • Actively managing project governance, including project plans, time scales, risk and issue registers, and tracking and monitoring updates.

  • Establishing and managing regular reporting cycles, preparing summary dashboards for effective decision-making.

  • Designing the domestic WiNS pathway, engaging with the Home Office, Cabinet Office, and national security partners.

  • Providing budget control for the programme.

  • Facilitating project activities aligned with key events.


Requirements:


Essential:



  • Enthusiasm for supporting the Women in National Security programme.

  • Previous experience working within a project and programme management environment.

  • Highly organized with the ability to meet demanding deadlines in a pressured environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate project control products.

  • Good interpersonal skills, working effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels.


Desirable:



  • Knowledge of or direct experience in applying programme and project management approaches such as MSP, Agile, and PRINCE2.

  • Previous experience in (local) government, a security agency, or policing.

  • Good facilitation skills, eliciting information and agreement from diverse audiences.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including stakeholder engagement abilities.
