We are looking to recruit for numerous probation orientated jobs to reduce the reoffending rate and ensure rehabilitation.


All of our roles are temporary contracts, below is a brief summary of the roles that we offer.



Full time - Youth justice social worker


LOCATION: Argyll & Bute - Scotland


HOURS: 36 hours per week


PAY RATE: £35 per hour



Job Summary:


To provide a high quality of supervision service to Offenders in the allocated area within Argyll and Bute, thereby contributing to reducing re-offending which allows people to live and work in safer and stronger communities.



Service delivery:



Assist the Team Leader to ensure that high quality services and best value are delivered to service users by ensuring that all agreed plans are implemented efficiently and effectively.

In particular:




  • Supervise offenders within the community to ensure compliance with the requirements of Court Orders or Parole Board licenses, community supervision guidance, National Outcomes and Standards and any other relevant Departmental guidance.

  • Work with colleagues in social work and other agencies / professionals working within the criminal justice system to assess needs/ risks in relation to each offender, plan interventions and ensure seamless, effective care / risk management plans are implemented on each occasion.

    Engage with prisoners and their families and provide effective post-release support.

  • Participate in delivery of group work programs as appropriate, and support the local Community Service/Unpaid Work scheme as required.


  • Participate in and contribute to the effective operation of the team, supporting the Team Leader as appropriate to deliver a strong professional service to the Council.

    Be familiar with individual and organisational roles and responsibilities, and provide support to other teams within the Criminal Justice partnership as and when necessary.


    Quality Assurance:



    Support the Team Leader to develop, implement and maintain appropriate performance management reporting systems as a means of managing and monitoring the team's performance, to ensure standards are maintained, improvements developed and issues addressed in a timely manner, and in particular:




  • Adhere to professional standards of social work practice in accord with SSSC code of conduct and departmental Policy.




  • Maintain professional and departmental standards in respect of clients' records and personal data.



  • Participate in service monitoring, research, audit and evaluation, taking appropriate action to advise Team Leader of any concerns and take any immediate action required to remedy situation.




  • Participate in and contribute to staff development in relation to specific case work, and to the overall development of the team.




  • Be available for weekend work as and when required as part of a 5 day over 7 day working week contract.



    Pass Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) at Level 2 or 3 as required, in order to access Police databases.
