As a Housing Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals who are experiencing homelessness, struggling with drug misuse, and navigating the justice system.

This position requires a valid driving license as you will be expected to travel within the Teeside region.

Responsibilities:



  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals' needs, including homelessness, drug misuse, and justice system involvement.

  • Develop personalized support plans tailored to clients' specific circumstances and goals.

  • Assist clients in accessing suitable housing options, including temporary accommodations, supported housing, or independent tenancies.

  • Provide practical guidance on managing tenancy obligations, budgeting, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.

  • Offer emotional support and actively listen to clients' concerns, addressing their mental health and well-being needs.

  • Collaborate with local authorities, outreach teams, and support services to ensure clients receive appropriate interventions and access to necessary resources.

  • Advocate for clients' rights and represent their interests when dealing with housing providers, probation services, and relevant agencies.

  • Facilitate access to drug misuse support services, treatment programs, and harm reduction initiatives.

  • Support clients in navigating the justice system, including attending court hearings, probation appointments, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including progress notes and case files.



Qualifications and Requirements:



  • Previous experience working in a similar role, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, drug misuse, or involvement with the justice system, is highly desirable.

  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

  • Strong knowledge of homelessness, drug misuse, and the justice system, including relevant legislation, policies, and resources.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with clients and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach when working with individuals facing complex challenges.

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage a diverse caseload.

  • Willingness to travel within the Teeside region to meet with clients and attend meetings.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and work collaboratively with external agencies and service providers.
