Purpose of the Role
I am representing a client based in Slough, who are looking for someone to be responsible for delivering a time-limited intensive recovery plan for the council's Right to Buy service and to support neighbourhood officers in the management of leasehold home ownership and freehold occupancy issues.
You will be expected to ensure the council delivers a statutorily compliant right to buy process for tenants and assist with the full transition and embedding of the service into the directorate.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that only legitimate right to buy purchases proceed to completion and to maximise service charge income through accurate costs projections and RTB/leasehold aftercare.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver an efficient and effective right to buy service by processing applications promptly and accurately and by delivering excellent customer service to applicants.
- To assist and contribute to ongoing reviews to ensure accurate, up-to-date policies and procedures are in place and to support the efficient delivery of the Right to Buy process.
This includes reviewing and proposing improvements/amendments as necessary in consultation with Neighbourhood Manager and other senior officers. - To foster and develop effective working arrangements for sharing information relating to Right to Buy applications to provide a robust and comprehensive application process.
- Respond to complaints, queries, and questions about Right to Buy process from tenants, ward councillors and MP within corporate timescales.
- Provide professional support to the Project Manager (Neighbourhood Recharges) as necessary and appropriate.
Requirements
- Current or working towards Associate Membership of the Chartered institute of Housing or equivalent
- Educated to Degree Level or equivalent or evidence by experience
- Extensive Right to Buy experience with a local authority or housing association
- Experience of delivering excellent customer services to a diverse client group that meet individual needs and performance requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of social housing tenancies, right to buy and home ownership tenures
- An in-depth knowledge of Right to Buy legislation, guidance, and codes of practice
- Demonstrates an understanding of financial systems and resource management
- Knowledge of working with Capita Housing Management System (or similar)
- Strong evidence of financial awareness and understanding of resource management
- Must have a valid driver's licence and have access to own means of transport
