Distribution Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Distribution Supervisor to join our team in Horwich.

You will be working with a large, established furniture manufacturer to assist in the administration function of the Distribution department.

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the distribution operations of the furniture manufacturer, ensuring that orders are fulfilled efficiently and accurately.

This includes managing a team of distribution staff, coordinating with other departments, and implementing strategies to improve the distribution process.

Main Duties:

  • Working closely with the Installation Manager in the day to day running of the Installation department and the coordination of the day to day planning of the Installation schedule set out by the Installation Manager.

  • Prepare and submit installation loading orders ensuring that the load sheets are identical to the shipping dashboard.

    Any order additions should be communicated with the warehouse as soon as possible.

  • Liaise with Warehouse Supervisors daily to discuss vehicle allocation for each delivery and installation run.

  • Prepare the Installation team's folders daily.

    Produce delivery notes once vehicles have been loaded, ensuring notes are in the correct delivery order when put in the folders, adding relevant instructions, RMA's or collection notes as required.

  • Advise the fitters and drivers of their workload and vehicle allocation for the next working day.

  • Assist in contacting the customers to ensure they are contacted a minimum of 48 hours prior to delivery to book in the deliveries to allow for any last minute changes or additional information to be accounted for.

    Larger orders or orders relating to specific contracts may require longer notice.

  • Liaise with Sales and customers on any enquiries and deal with any phone calls.

  • Assist in de-briefing the fitters on their return ensuring any failed deliveries are noted and acted on or rescheduled with the Installation Manager.

Person Specification:

  • Confident Microsoft office user and good computer skills

  • Good organisational skills and be approachable, reliable, flexible and a good communicator.

  • Must be able to work individually on own initiative but also be a good team member.

  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Excellent time management skills
