
Director of Cellular Therapies
Hi all, I'm currently recruting for a Director of Cellular Therapies.
This will be based over in the addenbrookes
Hours - 37.5
Location - Cambridge
Rate - £48.79 - £56.14 PAYE Per hour (Paid weekly by an umbrella company)
1.
Direct and be accountable for the provision and delivery of a highly specialist regional blood and marrow transplant laboratory service in accordance with GMP and statutory National and European regulations.
This includes the collection, processing, intricate cell manipulation, storage and release of bone marrow and blood products collected from donors or patients, for clinical transplantation.
2.
To initiate development of the services by maintaining awareness of relevant scientific and medical literature, participating in scientific and medical conferences and appraising other members of the Department of advances appropriate to the service, maintaining Addenbrooke's Hospital as a leading international force in the field of stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy.
3.
To keep up to date with novel technology and make decisions on appropriate methodology for introduction into the laboratory.
4.
Facilitating translational research including the use of genetically modified products and organisms.
5.
Responsible for policy decisions on the provision of the Cambridge Cellular Therapies Laboratory which provides for cellular therapy services for Cambridge and the East of England.
6.
Responsible for reporting, and subsequent investigation of, adverse incidents relating to haematopoietic stem or other cell manipulation in line with Trust policy and be the decision maker as to whether these need to be referred to the Human Tissue Authority.
7.
Responsible for the final authorisation of reports in an accurate and timely manner and recommendation for further action where appropriate.
8.
Advise clinical staff on the suitability of a bone marrow or stem cell collection for transplantation purposes by reviewing processing records and taking responsibility for its provenance by authorising product release.
9.
Be the named Designated Individual on the Trust's therapeutic Human Tissue Authority licence and ensure compliance with the Human Tissue Act on behalf of the Trust.
10.
Provide expertise to the Trust on legislative and regulatory issues including but not limited to those arising from JACIE, HTA, MHRA/EMA, GMP, GLP and ICH as required.
11.
Provide expert advice to the Trust on compliance with statutory regulations, including as applicable EU directives, in the area of blood and marrow stem cell manipulation, cryopreservation and storage.
12.
Provide a bone marrow collection service for adult and paediatric patients in the operating theatre department.
13.
As necessary provide scientific advice/cover for the lab using detailed scientific knowledge and skills to take part in the relevant processes.
14.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all appropriate regulatory bodies.
15.
Maintain the Trust's reputation as a centre of excellence and a leading authority in cancer care both nationally and internationally.
