Location: Loughborough (Hybrid working available)

Purpose of the Role
I am representing a client based in Loughborough, who are looking for someone to assist with the provision of advice and assistance to housing and homeless applicants, the prevention and relief of homelessness, the determination of housing register and homeless applications, and the allocation and letting of accommodation.

You will be expected to deliver an effective and appropriate service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective, efficient, consistent and customer focused housing services.

  • Deal with enquiries in relation to the housing options and housing allocations services, taking responsibility for ensuring enquiries are progressed through to a satisfactory conclusion.

  • Triage enquiries effectively and assist customers to access services.

  • Assist with the investigation, assessment and determination of housing register and homeless applications.

  • Provide general advice in relation to the housing allocations and housing options services and related policies and procedures, and available housing options.

  • Assist with interim and temporary accommodation placements, including completion of associated paperwork and updating of related system records.

  • Deal with customer enquiries effectively and appropriately, including in person, via telephone, via email / letter, in the council offices, in customers' homes and at other sites as appropriate.


  • Experience of working in an organisation that delivers housing advice, homelessness, or related services.

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people.

  • Ability to adopt a methodical and logical approach to dealing with tasks.

  • Ability to perform all the duties and tasks of the role with reasonable adjustments, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.

  • Experience of general administrative duties including data inputting, typing, record keeping, filing, dealing with general enquiries and correspondence.

  • Willingness to attend meetings and events when required, which may on occasion take place outside of normal service hours.
