1.1 To undertake warehousing duties in a store of operational equipment, stationery, cleaning materials, first aid, IT consumables and forms.

1.2 To receive into the Operational Support Centre (OSC) deliveries of parts and material and to check and verify against advice notes / purchase orders.

1.3 To issue and deliver any item of stock within Headquarters and to ensure that proper records are kept of issues from the OSC.

1.4 To meet the critical requests for frontline essential operational equipment promptly and accurately.

1.5 To ensure that all necessary computer inputting and other documentation is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

1.6 To collect and deliver goods and parts documents and associated material, specialist equipment between Headquarters as well as from external suppliers as and when required, using Brigade light vehicles.

1.7 To ensure the Brigade's commitment to quality is upheld in all dealings with staff of all levels within the Brigade.

1.8 To assist in ensuring that the security of the warehouse, and the goods within it, are maintained at all times.

1.9 To interrogate the Purchase Order Management System (POMS) computer programme, in order to progress customer queries and resolve stock queries.

1.10 To ensure in the absence of the OSC Manager the core functions of the OSC continue to operate effectively.

1.11 To liaise with staff at all levels and to ensure high levels of integrity are maintained at all times.


Stock procedures
2.1 To conduct cyclical stock checks and to report discrepancies or depleted stock levels which become apparent.

2.2 To ensure that all goods are labelled/numbered as appropriate and allocated and stored correctly.

2.3 To process documentation and store parts in accordance with OSC procedures.

2.4 To identify required goods from general purchasing stores catalogue.


3.1 To drive Brigade Medium and/or Heavy Distribution Vehicles to provide cover for sickness and leave of OSC support drivers as and when required.

3.2 To complete a daily scheduled route of delivery/collection drops of consumables and post.

3.3 To visit BHQ when required to collect/deliver mail and load stores.

3.4 To garage the Brigade vehicle each day at a fire station venue (venue to be agreed).

3.5 To obtain proof of delivery for the number of packages left.

All deliveries to the office complexes, training venues, Fire Safety and Fire Investigation Offices are to be made to those designated rooms/offices.

3.6 To routinely make/receive phone calls by the provision of a mobile phone.

3.7 To record all vehicle defects and report them to line management in accordance with Brigade procedures.

3.8 To undertake the refuelling of the vehicle by using a fuel card at any convenient garage forecourt.

3.9 To assist if required with driver duties at other venues in Procurement Department.

3.10 To assist with the workloads in the Operations Support Centre as required, commensurate with the responsibilities and grading of the post.

3.11 To carry out weekly vehicle cleaning.

3.12 To maintain all vehicle records including ensuring that vehicle logbooks are properly completed after each journey.
