Location:Slough or Reading


Contract: 6 months+


Pay:£15.11 per hour



Job Description



  • To effectively triage reported crime that does not require a fast-time deployment; prioritising crimes for investigation based on THOR principles, victim impact, vulnerability and reasonableness of lines of enquiry.



  • As part of the triage process, ensure HOCR criteria is met and crimes recorded correctly and amended as necessary.



  • Make contact with victims as necessary through the most appropriate communication channels, including making best use of video call technology.




  • Conduct relevant secondary investigation on victims, suspects, locations etc.

    as applicable to enable possible linking of offences, crime series, offending or repeat victimisation.



  • Identify and flag safeguarding concerns, ensuring relevant referrals to other departments/teams e.g.

    Problem Solving, MASH or external agencies and partners e.g.

    Victims First.



  • Where necessary task Investigation Support Staff with evidence collation and review as part of the initial triage process.


  • Allocate triaged investigations to an appropriate AIU OIC.



  • Allocate crimes that fall outside of the AIU remit to appropriate force departments/LPAs based on specialist need e.g.

    Rape/SSA (PIP 2 Investigators), ASB (NHPT) etc or, in rare cases, send to Control Room where further information gained justifies the need for a fast-time deployment.




  • Ensure effective crime management and compliance with the victim codes, prioritising and seeking ways to improve victim care.




  • Maintain personal responsibility for collection, recording, evaluation, information sharing, review, retention and disposal of information in compliance with codes of practice and Guidance in the Management of Information, information security policy, procedures and legislation. 




  • File crimes appropriately and accurately, ensuring the victim is aware of the outcome.
