Job Description

A Local Authority based in Somerset is looking for a temporary Strategic Manager (Risk, Insurance & Exchequer) to join the team on an initial 10-month basis.

The post holder will lead the work on financial governance across the council including compliance with CIPFA Financial Management code, production of Annual Governance Statement and production & implementation of various policies such as anti-fraud & corruption, money laundering across the council.

They will also lead the development of the Councils various finance systems whilst ensuring they comply with regulations and incorporate latest best practice They will also oversee the Councils risk management, insurance and exchequer functions and be the Finance lead for the Audit Committee.

Ideal Candidate

• CIPFA or CCAB Equivalent


• Experience of dealing with governance, audit and strategic risk management in a complex organisation


• Experience of presenting to Committees and Senior Boards


• Experience of implementing and developing finance systems
