Advocacy Worker

Temporary Pay Rate: Days: £18ph ltd



Hours and length of contract:



  • TEMPORARY POSITION (initial 3 months)

  • FULL TIME 34.5 hours (would consider 37.5h)

    • Monday to Friday: 09:00 - 17:00



  • Can work from home as long as the candidate is able to complete visits in the community.

  • The manager is looking for the position to be filled ASAP



Daily Duties:


The client is a nationwide private mental health recovery charity that has been established for over 35 years deescalating and supporting a range of patients with mental health issues.



As a Advocacy worker you will provide issue based case advocacy to people with mental health needs, learning disabilities and physical disabilities and work in partnership to provide people with the information they need in order to make informed choices.



Daily duties include but are not limited to:



  • To work in partnership with people to through the Advocacy Plan process to enable self-empowerment and self-advocacy



  • To empower people to identify and articulate their needs in relation to issues affecting their daily lives



  • Undertake formal and informal advocacy training with organisations and service providers

  • To refer or signpost people on to other services and/or agencies, where appropriate.



  • To complete accurate and timely case records, monitoring information and client outcomes

  • To work as a member of the Helpline team, contributing to personal and team development



  • To keep up to date on relevant changes in the law, policies and procedures both locally and nationally, and as they apply and affect mental health service users.



Person specification:


The successful candidate MUST have:



  • Recent relevant ADVOCACY experience (no training is provided)



  • NVQ Level 3 Independent Advocacy Qualification



  • Clear DBS
