Job Description:

A Local Authority in London is looking for an Internal Auditor on a temporary 22-week contract to assist in formulating the annual operational audit plan by identifying areas for review based on accumulated audit knowledge and risks identified by client departments.

The successful candidate will contribute to the achievement of the annual operational plan by undertaking risk-based systems reviews across the full range of Council services in accordance with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS) and Harrow's Internal Audit section's performance standards and quality requirements.

Contribute to the production of the year-end and mid-year reports to the Audit Committee and undertake the daily planning, monitoring and control of all audit reviews allocated to you ensuring that the agreed objective and scope are met.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Knowledge of PSIAS and its importance within the role.


• CCAB or equivalent Finance qualification (Part-Qualified acceptable) with CIPFA most desirable.


• Experience of high-level auditing with systems based/risk-based auditing most important.


• Considerable experience of auditing a wide range of Council services.


• Experience of a providing professional advice to clients on control, risk, governance issues and the investigation of suspected financial irregularities.
