JOB TITLE: Information Management Decision Maker & Reviewer

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Providing specialist training, review, advice and decision-making services in relation to Freedom of Information Act 2000 matters.

JOB PURPOSE: To work as part of the Force's Freedom of Information Team, and also the wider Public Access and Disclosure team, providing an effective and efficient Freedom of Information Act training, review, advice and decision making service, in order to support the Force comply with its statutory obligations and to assist protect the reputation of the Force and to prevent compromise to operational procedures and tactics.

Working Pattern

Days: Wednesdays and Fridays

Hours per week: 15


  • Provide Freedom of Information subject matter expert duties of training, review, advice and decision making

  • Engage with internal, and external service users, and stakeholders.

  • Highlight complex freedom of information to the Public Access and Disclosure Senior Decision Maker & Chief Information Officer and to work in conjunction with this post holder and/or the wider team to problem solve.

  • Seek continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.

    To recommend changes.

  • Responsible for assisting with the review of current Freedom of Information working practices and provision, by evaluating 1.

    existing systems and determining whether they need to be changed as a result of identifying weaknesses or areas of improvement, and/or 2.

    if new systems need to be implemented to meet current Freedom of Information requirements and/or to achieve better working efficiency's both in the Command, and across the Force.

    To support the Information Management Dept.

    in designing and implementing these solutions across the Force, and for information requests.

  • Be fully conversant with all relevant legislation and to undertake regular environmental scanning, to keep informed of emerging ICO cases, legislative steer, regulations and standards that may or will, influence and affect the ongoing provision of the Freedom of Information Act work functions.
