A Local Authority based in East London is looking for a Head of Development Management to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a full relevant Construction/Property qualification, extensive experience at a Senior level, experience with Local Plan works and ideally experience in a similar local authority or housing role.

The main purpose of the role is to Lead the Development Management Service to make a significant contribution to the regeneration of the borough through the innovative and practical development of proposals for planning permission to ensure that growth and regeneration in the borough is delivered in line with the Local Plan.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

RTPI accredited postgraduate degree

Substantial management experience at a service or team level within Development Management with demonstrable success at delivering customer focused services and service improvements, managing demands and pressures on the service and tight deadlines, ensuring that the service is effectively resourced to deliver to the required standard.

Planning and urban design skills: high level of proficiency.

Develops services that involve and respond to customers, meeting real needs with good quality service delivery.

Demonstrable experience in leading, managing and developing staff in teams to successfully achieve key outcomes.

Understands financial information, managing budgets effectively ensuring financial propriety.

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Manage the determination of planning applications and the enforcement of planning controls to the required standard within statutory timeframes.

Responsible for setting the strategic direction and tactical operation for the Development Management Service.

Responsible for producing and delivering the service plan for the Development Management Service and monitoring its delivery to align with both corporate and departmental aims and priorities.

Manage the Council's responsibilities for Development Management in order to ensure the delivery of excellent services in accordance with the Council's vision and values.

Responsible for ensuring that Development Management Service are delivered within allocated budgets and opportunities for increasing resources are identified and optimised.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering £500 p/day Umbrella Ltd (Approx.

£1,375 p/week NET after deductions).
