Principal Data Analyst


Job title - Principal Data Analyst
Location - Wembley, London
Contract - Fixed Term 12 months
Hours - Full time 35 hours per week
Salary - £50,041

The Role Summary
A new opportunity has opened for a Principal Data Analyst at a local housing association to Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation while summarising and presenting data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users.


Your key duties within the role will include:



  • Develop and define records management processes and policies, identifying areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes, setting up and maintaining automated data and/or reporting processes as needed.

  • Reverse-engineering a data model from a live system as needed, produce data models as required, identifying, and comparing options and that which is in the best interests of the organisation.

  • Performing statistical tests on large data-sets to determine data quality and integrity.

  • Evaluating system performance and design, as well as its effect on data quality.

  • Running data queries to identify coding issues and data exceptions, as well as cleaning data.

  • Collaborating with database developers to improve data collection and storage processes.

  • Gathering data from primary or secondary data sources to identify and interpret trends.

  • Reporting data analysis findings to management to inform business decisions and prioritise information system needs.

  • Work with the relevant stakeholders to identify data governance improvements and implementation of improvements into other organisational governance structures, participating in or delivering activities to enable assurance to be given in respect of organisational data quality.

  • Provide advice and guidance and mentor less experienced staff in data architecture as needed.

  • Work with IT trainers and colleagues to create, develop and provide appropriate training for staff to help them get the most from the systems and solutions you implement.

  • Adhering to best practices in data analysis and collection, keeping abreast of developments and trends in data quality analysis.



Requirements
Education



  • Degree educated in Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or related field preferred.

    Equivalent work experience considered (Essential)



Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required



  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications.

  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst

  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Power BI, Dynamics 365, databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing data-sets (Excel, R and Python etc)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

  • Demonstrable stakeholder management skills with previous experience working with wider IT and business teams and 3rd party professional services team
