Corporate Risk and Safety Officer

A local authority based in Ashford are looking for a Corporate Risk and Safety Officer to join their team.

This is an ongoing temporary contract.

The role is part time (22 hours p/week).


The main purpose of the role is to be the council's specialist for corporate health & safety, risk management and insurance (Leading on insurance and related Risk Management) including ensuring that there is adequate insurance cover in place, managing insurance claims in conjunction with the Business Support Team and providing advice to council officers to help them manage risks.


To support the Team Leader - Food and Health & Safety in connection with their lead role for corporate health and safety duties and support the council to achieve its statutory duties as relevant to health and safety.

To undertake a range of interventions, including investigations, training, inspections and audits, working to improve the corporate health, safety and wellbeing performance and culture.

To provide professional and competent advice on all health, safety and wellbeing issues to all levels in the Council.



The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;


Level 6 Health & Safety, or equivalent experience


CII Certificate


Experience of working in an insurance environment
