Building Surveyor

A Local Authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for a Building Surveyor - Repairs to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a full relevant Construction/Surveying qualification, extensive experience with repairs and maintenance works, experience with both domestic and commercial property repairs and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the role is to provide a professional building surveying service delivering a diverse range of repair and maintenance related works from inception to completion.

This will be across the council's property portfolio (comprised of both operational and commercial properties), including residential garages ensuring that the council's property / building assets are compliant, and all assets are improved, repaired, maintained and in a good state of repair and fit for purpose.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

Completed, HND or HNC/BTEC , or third year of an accredited or completed other construction related degree in Architecture or Building Surveying
Detailed knowledge of building technology and construction including identifying diagnosing defects and repair solutions.
Preparing drawings, schedule of works and specifications as the various stages required for the delivering of capital works and planned and reactive repairs on commercial and corporate council buildings
Undertaking condition surveys and inspections reporting on findings
Managing projects from inception to completion including the preparation of documents for quotation and tendering purposes.
Liaising with internal teams to ensure coordination with other capital works programmes.
IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of NBS specifications and use of Autocad would be an advantage

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Interpreting briefs, scope of works and project requirements from, client officers, project sponsors, and external clients and stakeholders, tenants and external organisations.
Identifying and recommending the need to appoint specialist and consultants
Ensuring project delivery within a strict qualitative and commercial framework.
Identifying and diagnosing defects and implement cost effective solutions for repairs /improvements.
Preparing outline specifications and estimates during the design process and detailed specifications for quotation purposes.

This shall also include the contract conditions, preliminaries, and schedule of works.
Preparing drawings sufficient for to convey work required.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering a daily rate of £200 p/day Umbrella Ltd (Approx.

£670 p/week NET after deductions).
