Health and Safety Advisor FTC 18 months

A new Very High Throughput COVID DHSC testing facility requires a Qualified Health and Safety Advisor to join their team.

This is a fixed term contract of 18 months.

Main Duties:

As the Health & Safety Advisor you will be working with the senior leadership team to develop, implement and manage Health and Safety leadership and technical expertise in the form of written policies, guidelines and procedures, verbal communications and practical involvement fulfilling the legal requirement of competent person.

The Health & Safety Advisor will participate in the development, progression and implementation of the site safety management system, and to attend whole Team H&S meetings and Biosafety meetings in order to promote the philosophy and obtain feedback to ensure consistency in standards and approach.

As the Health & Safety Advisor you will interpret and ensure appropriate application of UK H&S legislation and incorporate them into H&S policies and guidelines.

The Health & Safety Advisor will be aware of and prepare for changes in legislation.

As the Health & Safety Advisor you will take ownership of the site Environment, Health & Safety.

Environment (EHS) self-inspection programmes and perform self-inspection audits.

Generate written reports to management.

Working with the training team, ensure adequate provision of H&S training for employees, through external training providers and development and delivery of 'in-house' training packages.

Participate in, train and give guidance on team inspections and audits, giving guidance to the management audit team.

The Health & Safety Advisor will participate in audits and development of the site audit programme.

Maintain CPD by attendance at seminars, courses and conferences, and reading of relevant H&S journals and publications.

Share best practices across teams on site.

Support occupational health and line managers to assess level of risk and determine first aid requirements.

Qualifications and experience:

Mandatory: A Level 6 EHS Qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent)

Mandatory: Previous experience within an EHS Advisor role

Preferable: Membership to the Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) (Or working towards)

Preferable: Qualification in Biosafety
