Media Officer

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Media Officer for a local police force in Devon and Cornwall.

The role is based within a Police HQ in Winfrith.

This is a 6 Months contracted role with the outlook to extend.

In order to be considered for this role you MUST have -
,Education to graduate level or equivalent professional experience.
,Professional qualification in communications and journalism (NCTJ, CIPR, CIM)
,A demonstrable and successful track record of experience in media relations in a fast moving environments

The purpose of the role is to develop and implement issue and incident specific media strategies, often in liaison with partner agencies, in order to generate accurate, balanced and positive publicity to help reduce crime and enhance public confidence, working either within Dorset or Devon & Cornwall.

The main responsibilities of the Media Officer will be -
,Assess information to ensure an open and transparent service is provided and decide which information should be disclosed for legal or operational reasons
,Provide media updates on incidents and crimes
,Train and support staff to ensure the organisation is represented appropriately in its communications with the media.

,Provide strategic and tactical communications advice and guidance to officers and staff
,Deliver a comprehensive media monitoring / horizon scanning service to ensure both Forces are alert to news stories and that it maximises opportunities to generate positive publicity.
,Utilise a variety of different news channel - social media, community websites, Force websites etc.
