Youth Offending Case Officer

You will be working as a member of the multi-agency Youth Justice Service.

You will be reporting to the Youth Justice Service Manager and will handle several different tasks and responsibilities on a daily basis, including:

, Reducing the risk of youths reoffending by regularly completing risk and vulnerability assessments as well as management plans.
, Using Asset+
, Providing supportive relationships to younger people, their families and carers using your specialist skills.


, Liaising and collaborating with other agencies who work with young offenders.

Providing information on changes in legislation, practice and procedures.


, Managing caseloads including the full range of referral, community and custodial orders.


, Attending youth crown courts when is needed.
, Carrying out regular risk assessments and use internal and external agencies to monitor risks of reoffending.



Qualifications
, Relevant qualification - Social work, Youth justice, probation studies - as well as experience working in a youth offending team before

Necessary Experience required
, To have prior experience working with youth offenders and the criminal justice system and of implementing the Children Act of 1989 and 2004 and criminal justice legislation.


, Experience of preparing and presenting pre-sentence/other reports.
, Ability to recognise and deal effectively with safeguarding issues

Key Skills Needed
, Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with a wide variety of people (young people, their families, other agencies and professionals)
, Strong organisational skills
, Ability to work well and remain relaxed under pressure
, Good level of it skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
, Being able to take own initiative as well as part of a team
