Ward Manager – RMN or RNLD Nurse

One of the leading Healthcare providers is currently seeking a Ward Manager to join their reputable Hospital located in Monmouthshire.

The Hospital provides specialist care for men with enduring mental health difficulties with treatment and rehabilitation.

As the Ward Manager you will be expected to:

·         Provide clinical management and high profile, visible leadership on the ward to ensure the highest level of care is given.

·         Participate with the on-call rota as part of the senior nursing team within the hospital

·         Participate in service specific strategy and development

·         Take line management responsibilities for the nursing team

·         Assist the Hospital Director with managing the ward budget, exercising effective cost control in line with budget and service requirements

·         Directly manage the charge nurses

·         Be involved in all aspects of recruitment of nursing staff within the unit in partnership with the Hospital Director as appropriate

·         Ensure that action plans are implemented, monitored and evaluated, maintaining compliance with identified standard requirements and effectively problem solving when necessary

·         Ensure a continued assessment of service needs, service governance and performance against key indicators, inspections and commissioners


It is essential for you to have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

·         Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Nurse of Learning Disabilities Nurse Qualification.

·         At least 5 years post qualification experience

·         3 years’ experience of providing leadership in a managerial position

·         Knowledge of legislation related to health and safety, nursing and other professions

·         Proven ability to manage and develop staff in a range of disciplines

·         Excellent communication and organisational skills


To be considered for this role you must be a qualified RMN or RNLD Nurse with a current NMC Pin and at least 3 years’ experience in a managerial role.
