Our client seeks to appoint to this new role a General Manager who will be responsible for the efficient running of the charity’s two sites in Lincolnshire and for all aspects of the charity’s work.
You will have had several years experience of middle or senior management in a fairly large organisation and the proven ability to deliver successfully against demanding objectives.
Especially you will bring to the job the ability to help the Board of Trustees to develop and implement a strategic vision for the charity as well as the practical skills needed to manage the charity’s day-to-day activities.
You will have the management experience needed to provide visible leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of staff and the commitment necessary to develop a talented and motivated workforce.
As General Manager you will be answerable to the Board of Trustees for daily operations of the charity including; administration, personnel matters, land management, building work and the operation of the trading company.
To help you in this are the members of the management team who each have specific roles and specialist knowledge of their own departments.
Having agreed your own annual objectives and targets with the Board of Trustees you will want to set and monitor personal targets for each of the management team.
You will be assisted in the preparation of budgets, the implementation of financial controls and the development of business cases by the Charity’s Accountant.
The Accountant, who is responsible to the Board of Trustees for ensuring financial propriety, will deputise during your absence.
As this is a new post you will want to create and establish management systems that will enable you to gather, analyse and act upon good quality information.
This will also enable you to make regular and comprehensive reports, either oral or written, to the trustees, keep supporters informed about the work of the charity and provide managers and staff with appropriate feedback.
The person most likely to succeed as the charity’s first General Manager will probably have had experience of managing an organisation or a department comprising multi-disciplinary staff, which successfully delivered sustained performance against identified targets.
